For
over a decade, Prof Wiseman has worked with the media to help bring
science and psychology to a wide and diverse audience.
His research has been featured in a large number of television programmes,
including Horizon (BBC), Body Shock (Channel 4), 20/20 (ABC), and
Dateline (NBC). He is regularly heard on BBC Radio 4, including appearances
on ‘Start the Week’, ‘Midweek’ and ‘The
Today Programme’. Feature articles about Prof Wiseman have appeared
in newspapers across the globe (including The Times, The Daily Telegraph,
The New York Times, and The Guardian), and as cover stories on magazines
(e.g., The New Yorker, The Guardian's Life Magazine, and Focus Magazine).
As a consultant, he frequently creates ideas and content for documentaries,
reality television, print media, and online sites. Clients have included
Big Brother (Channel 4), The Daily Telegraph, New Scientist, and Channel4.com.
Much of this work involves devising hidden camera stunts, or creating
large-scale social experiments with thousands of participants.
Most recently, Prof Wiseman has helped devise and co-present a new
20-part BBC1 series on social psychology, scheduled to be broadcast
in 2008.
