WELCOME TO THE LAFAYETTE SEANCE !
The
live webcast of 'The Lafayette Seance' will start at 9 p.m. (UK time)
on 9th May 2011. In order to be able to see the event, you need to be
able to see and hear the short goat-based promo clip above.
The
Edinburgh Secret Society has teamed up with the Festival Theatre to stage
our weirdest event to date!
A century ago, The Great Lafayette was the highest paid performer in the
world. But in the middle of his show at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre
on the 9 May 1911, a fire began on stage. Lafayette died and the theatre
burned to the ground.
Exactly one hundred years on, The Edinburgh Secret Society will take to
the stage of the Festival Theatre to conduct ‘The Lafayette Seance’. Join
us as we retrace Lafayette’s final backstage steps, hear from world experts
about his remarkable life, discover why the lion roared, how the bodies
got mixed up, and who wore the teddy bear costume.
